Yesterday, I went into London. I had just enough money to pay for the travel there and home and around £5.00 to spend. I think I came home with some change…
With my loyalty cards, I was able to purchase a delicious Luxury Mocha and bought a really good brand new book from Foyles which cost 89p rather than the normal price of about £11!
Why am I being so careful with my money I hear you wonder?
To plug Sustainable Café, very much like my business, I try to spend my money on really good quality items so I get a lot of bang from my buck…
The truth of the matter is now I am saving virtually every penny I can to collect enough capital to set up the purchasing website for this project.
I’m guessing it might cost a good few grand to set up the purchasing website and a few £k to do other things like advertising, the accountant and whatever else might pop up.
I would love to tell you how much I have saved so far, but can assure you that with living in London, going back and forth to Leeds to see my partner and the general escalating cost of living, I can’t say it is enough to just say to my website developers “whoosh, pleased do this today”, no matter how I would like to…
The thing is, though that we will set up the purchasing website in early 2026 and after a few months, hopefully, we will have the suppliers who we genuinely like to set up their products on the website.
At university, my Professor told us to start small… don’t risk your whole life on something that might just not work… and if it does, then expect the Nike whoosh in terms of sales and income.
In view of this, it is only fair that I will try and give you a general time frame for what we will do at Sustainable Café Ltd…
January 2026: Commission the purchasing website
February – April 2026: Invite suppliers to come on board
June 2026: Celebrate a grand opening of the website and invite customers, social media, legacy media, suppliers, friends and family to join us to make this project a success.
This will have been a long journey since I have started this idea/ business model from the Covid days in 2020.
From all the support of my closest friends and family, I have decided to go all in!
Thank you so much for reading my blurb and I sincerely hope we can make Sustainable Café the project I envisaged five years ago.
With warmest wishes,
Mark Banham
